I like to thank my husband who invited me for a week long vacation, and all my kids who worked out that someone were always available to visit grandma and had dinner with her.

It has been a wonderful week spending some time with relatives and friends in San Francisco areas: my sister and her family, my aunt and cousin#1, my uncle and family, my husband’s sisters (#3 and #4) and families, my husband’s cousin who has not seen him almost half a century and happened to visit US from China, and some unexpected friends who happened to visit SF from NY. These were definitely not our plans.

I got the chance to hold my grandniece and grandnephews and play with them.

I learned a different way to make dumpling from my aunt who has also taught me how to make cranberry muffins. In addition, I learned how to steam cakes in two different ways: my aunt’s way (use more milk), and my uncle’s way (use more eggs and oil).

Walking the hills to the park near my sister’s house has been a great workout for us. Walking the Golden Gate Park with my aunt who lives across street from it has always been joyful every time.
Walking around and up the hills with my husband’s sister #3 who lives on the foothill hopefully motivates her to do the walking on her own even when we are not around.
Picking persimmon was lots of fun. We got over 300 counts and have plenty to share with relatives and friends.

I am thankful for the warm welcome from all our relatives and a good friend of my sister's and their bountiful love and food serving us. We also had an early thanksgiving dinner at my sister’s church. We sang songs: “Count our blessings”, and “Thank our Lord”. Listen to the preaching and the choirs in English, Cantonese and Mandarin. It’s a really joyful event. I am thankful for my sister's invitation.
