Home Sweet Home
We arrived in Dulles Airport on time this morning. My older son was waiting for us. He dropped us off at the house, and then he went to work. We appreciate his prompt service.
It's Mid-Autumn Festival today. My mother-in-law has already made the chicken, the taro-root cake and the sweet yearly cake for the fest celebration. We brought back some moon cakes with ham and macadamia nuts, which my sister specially ordered from the bakery. Daughters came by and had dinner with us. Older son also got home early. We had a fun filled evening. We shared some experience how to play the Roulette, which I took a lesson on while I was in Las Vegas. I like the way my daughters bet: they just bet one hand and move on regardless of winning or losing. That takes lots of discipline.
Now it's close to midnight and I am still wide-awake. I must be still in California time. I had a wonderful time out there visiting relatives and driving to LA and then Las Vegas. Seeing Las Vegas for the first time is really an eye opener for me. On the way there seeing the mountains and deserts reminded me my younger son in Afghanistan. He mentioned once that you can pretty much look in any direction and see mountains and the mountains are beautiful. I felt just that.
