Mother's Labor Day
In Lunar calendar, fifty-one years ago today, a wonderful woman gave birth to a baby girl in Canton, China. She had nurtured and guided her baby with love. She made her a beautiful doll out of pillows and taught her little girl to sew and to embroider the handkerchief in very young age. This girl left China to Hong Kong with her grandma, when she was five. As this girl growing up in HK, she continued to develop her embroidering skills by doing more: surfaces for shoes, fabrics for evening gowns, wedding dresses, and sweaters etc. earning money for her education as well as enjoying for her hobby. What amazing gift it is! In her freshman year of high school, she had reunion with her mother because her mother had migrated to Hong Kong at that time.
Since then, her mother was always there for her, from Hong Kong to USA, guiding and encouraging her to work hard and study hard for higher education, encouraging her to date in the proper time so that it could lead to marriage and raising family.
Her mother said, “Raising a family is human being's responsibility, as important as a career.” That wonderful woman was my mother and the girl was me. Now I am a mother of four precious children. Although my mother is no longer with me in this world, she's always in my heart. I am forever thankful for her devotion, teaching and guidance.
In Chinese, we also call birthday as Mother's Labor Day; for it's a day when our mothers work very hard in laboring to bring us to the world.
May God bless all the mothers in the whole wide world!
