Garbage Truck is my speech topic for tomorrow speechcraft class: organized speech/speak to inform:
Garbage truck
If garbage truck workers were on strike, what would happen to the garbage? Garbage will be everywhere and cause major problem for our environment.
In our blood stream, there is another type of garbage, such as cholesterol deposits. The excess cholesterol building up on our artery walls can cause problems like heart attack and stroke. The good news is that we have the good cholesterol working for us and serving us as a garbage truck, which removes the excess cholesterol out of our blood stream and takes it to our liver for elimination. We also called this good cholesterol as HDL. We can exercise and eat balance diets to improve the good cholesterol HDL level.
On one of my annual physical check ups, my doctors said to me, “Your cholesterol level is high over 200 ” I was not too surprised because in my family history, my mother and all my siblings have high cholesterol. Then the doctor continued, “your good cholesterol HDL level is also high which is good because it can help you get rid of the excess cholesterol, but you must keep your bad cholesterol low as well. The bad cholesterol is also called LDL. Excess LDL can cause heart disease” I asked her what should I do. She said that I can do my daily exercises such walking, exercise, swimming, riding bike and hiking and she also said that I should eat balance diets such as nonfat milk, soymilk and nonfat yogurt; use oil like canola oil, safflower oil, corn oil and olive oil etc with more mono-saturated fat or poly-saturated fat; eat less fatty meat, more fish and skinless chicken; include food high in fibers such as grains, oats, and beans; and lots fruits and vegetables. I told her that I do my daily walk at least two miles and do my stretch exercise, sometime play tennis, ride stationary bike or swimming. I also told her that I eat the balance meal like she mentioned. I asked what else I should do. My doctor smiled and said, “That’s why your HDL level is high over 100 which is good. Keep up the good exercise and eating habits. If your bad cholesterol level gets too high, I can prescribe you some medicine to lower it. You must have your blood test for cholesterol every year.” I really don’t want to take any medicine if I don’t have to, but I was thankful for my doctor’s positive encouragement.
Remember to have cholesterol test every year. Remember to exercise and eat properly everyday. When we start exercising, we should start off gradually to build up our strength, do our warm up and stretch exercise each time. Improve our HDL level to work for us, as the garbage truck picks up and eliminates the excess LDL for us, and lower our LDL level so that no excess LDL deposits accumulating in our blood stream to reduce the risk of stroke and heart disease.
