Good Friday!
Older son has joined the choirs in his newly joined church. I got invited to share this special Good Friday Celebration observation. I tried to single out his voice but that was impossible. The reason was that there were other people singing the base tone. I thought he was only one.
There was a demonstration about two persons who were from Old Testament by sacrificing the goats for their sins. One felt happily uplifted and one still felt sadly sinful. The demonstration was good but the analytical point was not. The pretended Rabbi pointed out that the sad one had the correct feeling because the goat was impossible to take away all the sins. In my opinion, we all should be entitled for how we feel. Jesus often said to the sinners, “ By your faith, you have been saved”. How can anyone deny the feeling of the happy one?
Another demonstration was another two persons who were Christians from New Testament having the salvation from Jesus’ sacrifice for their sins. One felt happily uplifted and one still felt sadly sinful. The pretended pastor pointed out that the happy one had the correct feeling because Jesus’ sacrifice would be enough to take away our sins. Again, how can anyone deny the feeling of the sad one? How many claimed Christians followed the teaching of Christ? How many claimed Christians have total faith, make every effort to add our faith, goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love?
“But, if any one does not have them, he is nearsighted and he has forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins”. 2 Peter 1:9
Feeling sad and sinful may have helped to remind us to work on and posses these qualities in increasing measure, and then they will keep us from being ineffective and unproductive in our knowledge of Christ. And hopefully, all the claimed Christians be all the eager to make our calling and election sure.
