It's a wonderful Area #63 Speech and Evaluation Contest today. There were five Toastmaster Clubs participated. I helped out on registration so I met and greeted everyone, well, almost everyone. It was a busy and fun day. Five excellent speeches: one model speech "No Regret" opened with a question: do anyone hug your love ones and say that you love them before you left the house? Then she talked about losing a friend's husband from a car accident during their vacation but with no regret for the wife because she remembered to live and appreciate him right to the last moment; "Determination, Persistence and Diligence= success" used the success of Christopher Columbus discovering America, Abraham Lincoln failed many times in politics before becoming the President of America and the White Brothers faced many obstacles before getting the airplane flying in the air to the encouragement for himself and others; "Letter" was about writing a letter to his father to show his appreciation for his father upbringing him through each stage of life and now he should be the one driving and let his father in the back seat and in the middle of writing the letter inviting us, Toastmasters, in his house and at the end asked us for our opinions; "Space to grow" talked about physical space, then led into mental space and emphasize how important it is to ourselves as well as others having that mental space to grow; " It rains and makes me wet" talked about how we usually react to the situation as if we were the only victims, if we rephrase it as it rains and I get wet, the responsibilities will fall on us and we can do something about it rather to put the blame on the rain or anyone else. I really enjoy all the speeches. An afternoon was well spent until next time, the district contest in April!
