Toastmasters Meeting tonight, everyone asked how husband doing in China, and I think they missed him. Husband is having a great and purposeful time in the village: meeting up with many friends and relatives from Hong Kong as well as from USA to do their annual "Ching Ming" which is to clean the graveyards to honor and pay respect to our ancestors. By this Saturday, he should be done with visiting graveyards, unless another relatives come by and invite him along.
Sister has been discussing in her bible study's group on the topic of purpose in life and called many times to see my points of view on that.
I like to share the veiw in the book of Ecclesiastes. I deeply share the view on how everything is meaningless, a chasing after the wind when not knowing there is a maker of all things and trusting our maker.
Ecclesiastes 3:12-14 "I know that there is nothing better for men than to be happy and do good while they live. That everyone may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all his toil—this is the gift of God. I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that men will revere him."
Therefore, live our life with joy in everything each and every given day even though everything under the sun may seem meaningless.
As we do not know the path of the wind, or how the body is formed in a mother's womb, so we cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things.
Sow our seed in the morning, and at evening let not our hands be idle, for we do not know which will succeed, whether this or that, or whether both will do equally well.
Be happy while we are young, and let our heart give us joy in the days of our youth. Follow the ways of our heart and whatever our eyes see, but know that for all these things God will bring us to judgment. So then, banish anxiety from our heart and cast off the troubles of our body, for youth and vigor are meaningless.
In Ecclesiastes 11:"7 Go, eat your food with gladness, and drink your wine with a joyful heart, for it is now that God favors what you do. 8 Always be clothed in white, and always anoint your head with oil. 9 Enjoy life with your wife, whom you love, all the days of this meaningless life that God has given you under the sun— all your meaningless days. For this is your lot in life and in your toilsome labor under the sun. 10 Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the grave, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom."
