Toastmasters Meeting went well tonight. Besides a prepared speech, I got picked for a table topic participant as well. The theme for tonight's meeting was "Tipping Point". Since I was one of the speakers, the toastmaster of the evening asked me to tell him a short story about a tipping point in my life so that he could introduce me as such. I would say one of my tipping point in life happened five years ago. I got out the madhouse of workplace when a group of businessmen took over the company of the laboratory where I worked; because I was very disappointed at the way they handled the workers’ leave benefit and other policies, and I preferred to spend more time with my family (mother-in-law recovering from illness, children returning home from college and etc.) and prepared to be a substitute teacher for my younger son who was a national guard and also a physics teacher for Mont Vernon High School at the time. Since then, I have gained much strength physically, mentally, and spiritually rather than making money. I have more time for my family and friends and even for two bible study groups and two toastmasters clubs. That was one of my tipping point in life and I am very thankful for that.
I successfully delivered my tenth speech in the basic manual (objective: inspire your audience) to complete my second Competent Toastmaster (CTM) requirement and got the recognition with "a strawberry cheesecake". Yummy... Thanks to the club president and all the fellowtoastmasters' encouragement.
