When we practice putting others’ interests before our own, we learn what it means to love, serve, and sacrifice. In fact, that’s how we pattern Christ in our relationships. Works that are done out of love for Christ shine brightest in a dark world. I need to examine myself often because I know my action is not always matching up.
"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others."(Phil. 2:3-4).
"Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God."(Ephesians 5:1-2).
